Come join a stunning 3.5-mile round-trip hike in a small group of no more than 7 people! The tour starts with a forty minute scenic drive. You will then hike through the Alaska State Park into the Tongass National Forest. Hike an improved gravel trail alongside a river, where you will catch glimpses of waterfalls and there will be plenty of spots for picture taking. From there, walk through a magical old-growth rainforest displaying impressive specimens of Sitka spruce and western red cedar fencing.
The trail is fairly flat and winds along a river valley below a ridge. The destination is a stone bench that sits beside a serene bow in the river. Here you will pause and have some time for reflection while enjoying beautiful ocean views. The local tour guide will share information about some of the flora and fauna, you'll also hear about the complicated logging history and what it means for our future. You may ask how to practice mindfulness and connect with your surroundings during the hike, allowing you to take these skills into other areas of your life.
Please Note: This is a rural hike and there are no facilities at the trailhead, along the trail, or at the beach. This is a leave-no-trace, tobacco-free, drug-free, and alcohol-free excursion.
